In today’s digital age, personal branding has become essential for entrepreneurs and professionals looking to stand out in a crowded marketplace. However, many personal brands are built using an outside-in approach, focusing on external factors rather than tapping into their unique brilliance. In this blog post, we will explore the importance of building a personal brand from the inside out and why it is the key to unlocking your full magnetic potential.
The inside out approach to personal branding involves starting with who you are and what you have to offer the world. It means building a strategy that is aligned with your values, strengths, and goals. By doing so, you tap into your authenticity and allow your true essence to shine through. This approach requires a deep understanding of yourself and a willingness to show up as your most genuine self.
When you build your personal brand from the inside out, you naturally show up as more authentic. This authenticity is magnetic and attracts others who resonate with your true self. By focusing on your unique brilliance and expressing it in a way that feels natural to you, you create a powerful connection with your audience. People are drawn to authenticity and are more likely to trust and engage with someone who is genuine.
Another advantage of the inside out approach is that it promotes sustainability and longevity. By building a brand that is aligned with who you are, your strengths, and your goals, you create a foundation that can withstand the test of time. When you enjoy what you do and show up in a way that feels good to you, you are more likely to stick with it for the long term. This consistency and commitment are key to building a successful personal brand.
Building a personal brand from the inside out allows you to embrace your individuality and uniqueness. You are not trying to be like someone else or fit into a predetermined mold. Instead, you are celebrating what makes you different and using it as a competitive advantage. Your unique perspective, experiences, and skills set you apart from others in your industry. By showcasing your individuality, you become unforgettable and create a niche for yourself in the market.
True credibility and thought leadership come from within. When you build your personal brand from the inside out, you focus on developing your expertise and sharing your unique insights with the world. You become known for your perspective and the value you provide. Credibility is not built overnight; it requires time, consistency, and a commitment to continuous learning and growth. By taking an inside out approach, you lay the foundation for becoming a trusted authority in your field.
Building a magnetic personal brand takes time and patience. It is not about following a cookie-cutter plan or trying to achieve instant success. It is a journey of self-discovery, experimentation, and refinement. It is about embracing the process and being willing to learn from your mistakes and adapt along the way. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your personal brand. Trust the process and give yourself the time and space to grow and evolve.
Building a magnetic personal brand from the inside out is a transformative journey that allows you to tap into your true potential. By focusing on your unique brilliance, authenticity, and individuality, you create a brand that is sustainable, credible, and unforgettable. It takes time, patience, and a commitment to continuous growth, but the rewards are worth it. So, embrace your uniqueness, trust yourself, and build a personal brand that reflects the true essence of who you are.
[00:00:00] I would say that the majority of personal brands out there right now have an element of being built from the outside in. I say that partially because of what I’m seeing, observing. So this is just what fills my news newsfeed, and then part of that, From the conversations that I’m having with clients or potential clients and what is going on with people’s processes when it comes to building out this strategy, and I think I.
Before we dive into the rest of the framework, it’s just important that we really break down like what is the difference? What is outside in versus inside out brand building, and why is it. Non-negotiable to build a brand from the inside out. If you want to really [00:01:00] tap into your full magnetic potential and really get known for your unique brilliance.
Your onlyness factor guaranteeing that there is no other competition for you, like to you on the planet. You are listening to becoming magnetic, where we believe that magnetic personal brands are built from the inside out. I’m your host, cat Elizabeth, personal branding coach, entrepreneur, brand builder, and tough love deliverer.
And I’m here to bring you some much needed real talk about what it really takes to get known for your brilliance, paid to do what you love, and to show up as your most magnetic self so you can experience success on your terms. So with no further ado, let’s dive in. Oh, hey. Yes, I did it. I I brought a, an intro back.
It’s so funny. It’s like the, [00:02:00] when I first launched the podcast, so I mean, if you have been around the whole time, you would know this, but just for some backstory, this podcast began as the personal branding project and. I think it was the first thing I did was actually create an intro for the podcast. It was one of those things to lay the foundations, and it was obviously, it was just based on what I had in mind for the podcast.
You’re still guessing when you’re creating an intro and saying, Hey, this is what’s gonna be all about. But back then it’s funny how I was able to commit so much quicker, like I was a. This is the vision. This is what I’m gonna be doing. Yeah, let’s go for it. And I would just do it. And as the years have wor on, I’ve gotten more and more wary of making promises of what is to come, because I’ve realized, I mean, I let myself go off script so much more now.
I mean, and this is a, this isn’t really honestly a topic for a whole nother episode. But anyways, my point was when I [00:03:00] rebranded the podcast a second time, ’cause. Again, if you have been around, you know that it was, then it was the the scene heard paid podcast for a bit, and then it became becoming magnetic.
And with this third, Rebrand or evolution of the podcast. I never got around to recording another intro and I, I did actually try, once I sat down to try and encapsulate everything that I wanted to put into the intro, and it was far too long. I was like, this isn’t gonna work. And then I just gave up. So I’ve just been.
Very, yeah, I don’t know. Just flying by the seat of my pants and feeling a little bit basic about my approach to the podcast since. N kind of relaunching, but then not finishing the relaunch. So anyway, all of this to say, I thought it was time, high time that I finally gave this version of a podcast, its own little intro, and I [00:04:00] think it’s mostly for me to signify that yes I’m still, I’m all in.
But anyway. Like I said, I wanted to before so I had a plan, and the plan is actually, it will go ahead where we’re gonna be diving into so many different pieces of the framework that I’m really excited to talk with you about, but I realize that the most foundational thing that I really wanna cover is.
It’s really my philosophy, which is about building a personal brand from the inside out and explaining what that means. ’cause I realize that it could seem quite abstract. And because yes, high level, essentially what I mean by the inside out approach is that the magnetism really comes from the inside.
It comes from who you are, and then we wanna make sure that is what’s being expressed. To the world, but it’s not something that just happens. Okay. There is [00:05:00] actually method, there’s a process to doing this in a way where it actually works. Like where you can, it’s repeatable. And also I wanted to be able to compare this for you.
So talk about what building a brand from the outside in actually looks like and. Why it is not ideal, why it is, it’s not going to work long-term where you know it. I find that this outside in approach can give you some short-term wins. You can definitely achieve a, you can get to a certain point doing it this way, but eventually you realize, oh crap, like this isn’t how I wanna be doing things.
And it’s time for a change. And I went through that. I, it’s so funny. I feel like I built a brand from the inside out first, then started trying to switch my approach from, to be more outside in to check all the boxes. [00:06:00] And then finally realized what I was doing and went back to basics and have taken myself through a complete inside out.
It was first a rebrand, but then it was a rebuild of the entire business because the inside out approach definitely applies to business as well, but that’s a. That’s its own episode, although you could listen the episode that was not too long ago with Christina Louise, the brand photographer, we do talk a lot about how the inside out approach really helped her with building her, offers, her new offer in a new way and led to very different outcomes than the way she’d approached it previously.
So yeah, we’ll leave that for now, but let’s talk about this. So what do I mean when I say. Inside out versus outside in. So the way I am seeing this is that outside in is about first looking. Outside of yourself for answers and for [00:07:00] guidance as to how you want to build your brand. It is factoring in other people’s opinions, your concerns about what people expect from you.
It’s about what you think you should be doing to build a brand and then trying to show up as this version of yourself that is designed to appeal to someone else, not factoring in your own preferences, not approaching it in a way that naturally feels good to you or that you are naturally drawn towards, but just going whatever it takes, I need to somehow check all these boxes.
And so even if it hurts, even if it’s painful, stressful, it doesn’t matter. I am, I’m gonna do it. And what happens is, I mean, there’s a few things that happen. So first of all, if we’re, if we are already from the beginning committing to things that aren’t in alignment, that don’t feel good to us, then we could potentially be committing to building our brand in a way that is completely unsustainable.
Because [00:08:00] if you don’t enjoy it and you’re really just forcing yourself to do it, what are the chances you’re gonna stick with this? Long term, and also going down the track. Okay, so let’s say already that your approach is just feeling yuck. Then we’ve also got this issue where the way you are showing up, if you are trying to dress a certain way, if you are trying to share a certain kind of content, and just really in your head about who you are being to make sure that you know your ideal person is drawn to you.
You are probably already showing up as an inauthentic version of yourself. Meaning that even if you are attracting people to you, they are maybe attracted to the wrong things. They’re not attracted to your. True essence, your true message, they’re attracted to this version of you if they notice you at all.
Because something else that happens with this [00:09:00] outside in approach is we get so scared about getting it wrong. And needing to, check all the boxes and need to do content the right way and this the right way. And so we will search for templates and toolkits and step-by-step plans and we’ll just follow whatever someone says we should be doing and end up putting something out there that is.
I mean, it’s cookie cutter. It looks like what everybody else is doing, and therefore you may not be attracting anyone at all just because you blend in the people don’t have a clear reason to follow you over someone else because your content looks the same. Cover up the handle, and it could have been anyone’s content.
So that’s one of the other issues. And then with long-term, And this is, I mean, this I feel is a little bit more connected to if you’re doing this for your business as well as in if you [00:10:00] are building offers or ways of making money that were outside in created, then you can often end up achieving things.
That you get the on paper success, you actually have some achievements, some accomplishments. ’cause like I said, you can absolutely achieve some success doing things this way. But the concern is like, is that actually what you wanted? Is that the kind of success you even cared about, or do you get to this point having made a certain amount of money or gotten a certain amount of recognition and realize you’re still unfulfilled?
Your lifestyle isn’t the way that you want it to be. You look good on paper. People, maybe you’ve got this reputation, that’s great, but you’re still the things that you were craving from the beginning, you still don’t have, because you didn’t build a plan based around what you truly were wanting to achieve.
I. There wasn’t [00:11:00] your vision at the center of all of this. And when I say vision for your life, because we can get very fixated on, and it’s also almost like a separation where we just go, wow, I, I need to achieve all this recognition and I need to be successful, and so I just have to go out there and do all these things because once I am successful, then I’ll have these things that I want, but.
Often when we dive deeper into that, when we pull that apart a little bit is often what happens with my clients is that they were very attached to this idea of a successful personal brand that they’ve seen a lot of people have. But when I really keep digging deeper and deeper with the questions, it turns out that the things that they want…. It can be lifestyle related goals. It can be that they just really want to feel like they’re free to just express themselves in the way that they want. They maybe wanna impact [00:12:00] people in a certain way. I don’t know. There’s all these different things that if I’d known that from the beginning, I’d be like, okay, cool.
So these are the goals. What is going to help us get there? And part of us getting there is yes, the external success. Okay? Oh, you wanna make this kind of impact? Then how do we make sure you’re gonna get that impact? Let’s build a strategy to support that. But if some of those goals are to do with time freedom, feeling like they’re in creative flow more.
How, I don’t know, like just feeling like they can do whatever they want and say whatever they want or there could be any sort of goals there. But often this experience, how they’re wanting to feel day to day, we need to factor that into their strategy on how they’re approaching their personal brand. As in, if you want white space and time freedom and more creative flow.
And [00:13:00] this is also me speaking from personal, like my personal goals and things and how I’ve been shifting things for myself. Like I realized that’s what I was aiming for was all of those things and. Yet the way I was approaching things, trying to build my brand and my business was with no white space, no creative flow.
Lots of pushing, forcing, rushing, meaning like how do I expect to eventually get there one day? Have all those things. If I’m not showing up that way now I know we can’t necessarily get all of those things right now. There might be limitations in your work, in your life. You’ve got other responsibilities, that’s fine.
But I don’t want you, if you are wanting this to be more flowy and about create, creative expression, then. I don’t want you committing to some rigid plan for your content that feels very forced, very robotic very stressful. That [00:14:00] takes you further away from those goals. It just doesn’t make any sense to me.
It’s like how can we have you approaching it in a way that gives you a little taste of. That future thing that you want so that you’re already injecting that now and experiencing that which is going to increase your magnetism naturally, but also mean you’re more likely to then be attracting the future things too.
It’s that whole act as if, but essentially outside in is about assuming that there is a right and a wrong way to do it. Assuming that you don’t have what you need inside you to go do this, like you, you feel like you are lacking the knowledge, the skills, and you might be lacking some of them.
There’s always room for improvement. But you’re immediately from the beginning, outsource or trying to outsource your magnetism, and you’re absolutely giving away your power saying, oh, I need an expert to tell me absolutely everything to do. I don’t wanna make any [00:15:00] decisions for myself ’cause I’m just gonna screw this up and it’s not gonna work.
And if I don’t get this right the first time, it’s a disaster. And I’m here to tell you that is absolute lie. Okay. I have made countless mistakes and missteps as I’ve been building my brand and. As long as I have the right perspective. If I’ve got the mindset of being able to learn from those things, I can keep redirecting myself, getting to where I.
Need to go, but how can anyone know all of the things and know exactly what the perfect plan is from the very beginning? Like it do, it’s not possible. But we sold this lie that it is, and this is where probably a whole separate episode, we’re just go on a rant about this, but. It’s what’s been sold to us in our newsfeeds.
It’s especially, I mean, it’s toxic in, I feel so many industries, but the marketing and salesy online space with all [00:16:00] the courses and the. The coaching and the selling, this foolproof, step-by-step proven way, that’s usually based on one person’s experience. So often the course creator or the coach is this is how I built my brand, or This is how I made six figures in this amount of time.
Just followed the exact steps that I did so that you can be successful like me. And it just doesn’t work that way. You are not that person. There were so many different things about you. The fact is you are already doing it at a different time in the world. Like whether they did it six months ago, a year ago, the world keeps changing, meaning.
The way our strategies and our tactics play out, how people respond to what we are sharing is going to change. Stuff that we were able to talk about or the way we talked about things a couple of years ago already doesn’t work because we’ve. We’ve evolved as a [00:17:00] collective and we’ve changed some of the rules.
So you’ve got, the timing is different, their personality is gonna be different to yours, their strengths, their abilities, their experience, who they’re trying to reach would’ve been different in some way. Their communication ability, what naturally works for them might not naturally work for you. Have we taken into consideration your schedule, your, the resources that you have available to you, all of these things, and yet the thing that they’re selling us is that, just follow this because it’s foolproof, it’s proven.
I will take all the hard work and the stress out of this for you if you just follow this plan and. The majority of my clients come to me. Having followed so many of those, or trying to follow so many of those different plans and being very disappointed because they didn’t work, they didn’t feel good, so then they keep looking for the next one and getting more overwhelmed, [00:18:00] more stressed.
The self-doubt keeps increasing ’cause they feel like they’re failing because they’re not getting the results when it was just that. The problem was there was never an actual strategy from the beginning that was built for them. These are just tactics and plans. That is not a strategy. A strategy is something that is meant to support you, help you get to where you want to go in the most effective and efficient way possible.
It’s meant to help you navigate your entire way there, as in it is meant to. Help you know how to make even decisions, how to deal with things when they don’t go according to plan. There, it’s meant to guide you, to help you know what’s working and what’s not, and why, but that’s not what they’re giving you.
They’re just giving you a list of instructions. Okay, so again, I could get way more fired up. I’m gonna tone this down before I get too angry and talk about why I [00:19:00] am set on the inside out approach and it just being the only way and the reason it’s the only way because I’ve gotta be careful.
’cause I realize I could then sound like the person who’s this is the proven way. No, here’s the difference. Okay. I’m saying it’s the only way because inside out is the only way that is going to allow you to build a strategy that is based around you. Your needs, your vision, your goals, your strengths, your story, your personality.
Also your struggles. Knowing where you struggle, what are your limitations? Let’s not force you to try and lean on those limitations or struggles and be like, oh, you just have to improve in that area. No, let’s focus on what you already have because you have enough. You have enough? Yes. Like I said, we can still [00:20:00] always improve and tweak and refine, but I wanna build on what is already working for you, what already exists to you and feels good for you because the.
The more we can just reduce that friction, the more likely you are to even take the action that’s gonna get you where you need to go. And I saw a quote, oh, I should’ve saved it. I should’ve had it on my phone, just popped up. It was like someone quoting someone else in an email. So good luck to me trying to credit them accordingly.
But they were basically saying that even if you’re crappy and had what you do, if you show up and do that thing every single day for the next year, And then they were talking, I think it was in relation to marketing, maybe like posting on LinkedIn or something like that. But they’re like, if you do that every day for the next year, you’ll still actually end up better than the majority.
It’s not actually about us being perfect, it’s about us being able to just take [00:21:00] consistent action and the outside in approach where you are just forcing yourself to try and do things that you are not. I. Into that. Don’t feel natural, that don’t feel good, that make that actually play up your insecurities or highlight any of those that self-doubt the imposter syndrome and all of that.
Then it, you are already set up to fail from the very beginning I. Whereas inside out, we’re gonna just go the path of least resistance. Knowing and the minimum viable version of this to get started, it’s gonna factor in where you are at today. ’cause again, those plans that are handed to you from someone else, they’re handing the same plan to someone who has five years experience as someone who has zero years experience.
Someone who’s a skilled copywriter versus someone who’s never written a word of copy in their lives. How? How can everyone get the same result? They can’t. So instead we’re gonna look at what do you have available to you and what is [00:22:00] gonna get you from point A to point B? Then we can reassess. We don’t need to have all the steps figured out to get you to point Z for my Aussie friends, because things change as we are taking action and we are getting from A to B.
Once we’re at point B, there is. More available to us. We have more knowledge, like we have more insight, clarity, confidence, even ability. Some of the stuff that we weren’t feeling great about from point A to point B, we realize, hang on, I’ve improved a bit, huh? Also, we start to have some data. We start to have some insight into what has been working better than other things, so we then can.
Commit, like we might go cool to get from B to C looks like this is actually gonna be the best path. And we might not even worry about this other thing for the time being and this will be enough. But it’s this step-by-step approach. But we only get a step-by-step [00:23:00] approach that is dynamic that is gonna adapt to us if we’re going inside out, if we’re able to keep coming back to how are we feeling?
How’s it going, what do we need next? Whereas if you’re handed that entire plan that just meant to take you from A to Z, there is no adaptability in there. Something else that happens is that when you are building a plan from the inside out that allows you so you’re choosing. The communication modes or mediums that best support you and how you feel right now.
If you’re on the platforms that feel the no most natural to you right now, if you’re leaning into your strengths and not your weaknesses, all of that, we naturally are gonna show up as more authentic. We are going to have an easier time letting that expression just flow, having access to our creativity because there’s less.
Just resistance and friction and clutter in our brains [00:24:00] and when we are starting to think about, so I’m now connecting it back to the last episode. So if you miss that one, you will wanna listen to that too, where I talk about the four pillars, ’cause we’ve got individuality, authenticity, credibility, and longevity.
So just tying it all together now. So when we’re going inside out that individual individuality piece, which is where we start, this is your inner compass, and this is going to help you find the most aligned plan to get you from A to B that then gives you the most access, like he’s gonna give you the best chance of feeling magnetic to really have that inner magnetism.
Just naturally come out, which in the beginning, that’s sometimes that’s all we’ve got. We might be very unpolished and imperfect. We don’t have the like the perfect content strategy or anything like that. But what we have is our ability to just show up and start and starting is what leads to the [00:25:00] conversations that we need to be having.
It leads to us. Uncovering gifts that we didn’t necessarily realize that we had all sorts of things. And again, making sure that the way we are showing up is in a way that we want to be showing up, that we’re showing up as our actual selves from day dot. As much as it can be scary, and I’m not saying that it’s gonna, you’re gonna be this.
Again, perfect, polished version of yourself, the future version of yourself, but that doesn’t matter. Go back to if you’ve got any YouTubers that you follow, like this is one of my favorite things to do is to someone who right now I might be like, oh, I have them on a pedestal. I think they’re just doing such incredible work and I’m just dying, like looking at the quality of their production value and the editing and how confident they are, and they just seem to have it all together.
And then I will. Go and check firstly how long they’ve been on YouTube, and often these people have been on YouTube for way more than five years, like [00:26:00] often eight plus years. And I will see if they have their oldest videos still listed. We, I mean, we never know if it truly is their oldest videos. But if you can go back to one of those earliest videos, you will usually see a huge difference in the, everything in their ability to communicate, in their groundedness, in their confidence.
I’ve seen people over the course of even three years in their videos, go from, Very quiet and shy, insecure, slightly awkward, just seemed really unsure of themselves and the production value. Don’t even start me terrible to then a few years later looking like they were born on camera, like natural entertainers, charismatic, smooth, less of the ums and the awkwardness, which I’m, I never judge.
’cause when I’m editing my podcasts, I don’t even wanna talk about the number of. Filler words I have [00:27:00] to remove. But you wouldn’t, if you see them at three years in or five years in, you just assume that this came naturally to them. It did not. They just started taking action and they’ve been now taking it for long enough that they developed skills.
And this is what I think I’ve mentioned it in one of the last few episodes, skills, there are so many skills required to. Actually be able to express yourself in the most magnetic way. You might be someone who, yeah, in person or when you’re on a call with a client, you know that you’re magnetic, you know that you’re engaging, but then when you sit down and write an email, that doesn’t seem to translate well, that’s because there is a skill involved in being able to write like you talk.
But don’t give up. Just because you can’t do it now, it will come, you just, it starts by practicing writing how you speak. That’s it anyways. Tying it back in again. So we’ve talked, individuality is a [00:28:00] thing that’s going to. Help you really set yourself up from for success from the beginning because your strategy is based on what is already inside you.
All of your magnetism, your unique brilliance, your natural tendencies and communication ability. We’re gonna build a plan around that, which gives you a huge leg up of over anyone else who’s forcing themselves to try and show up like somebody else. You are then going to allow yourself to just find your groove and.
Get used to expressing yourself authentically without trying to overly manipulate it, trying to hit a certain mark or anything like that. That is what’s going to help with that authe authenticity piece. Giving yourself that opportunity to find that is what then leads into making your life so much easier when you’re really getting.
Intentional and strategic about the credibility piece. We often try and jump straight to the credibility piece, try to go straight to having the perfect website. We [00:29:00] agonize over our messaging or needing the, like the perfect elevator pitch. We wanna have the photo shoot taken care of da, and yet, If you haven’t taken the time to really work on those first two pillars of who even am I?
What do I have to offer the world, and how can I bring. My most authentic, natural, magnetic self out in a way that feels safe right now, then you don’t have what you need to then really build some incredible brand assets to do that official. Brand development or rebrand to, to know what your messaging is, your positioning.
You you’re not meant to necessarily have those things from the beginning. I’d be very surprised if you did. But again, we’re trying to rush the process. I need to convince everyone that I’m an expert, so I’m just gonna get the, oh, I might just outsource my copy and I’m just gonna, yeah, this is a good elevator pitch that I help so-and-so yep, that’ll do. I’m gonna [00:30:00] spend money I don’t have on a photo shoot so I can convince myself that I’m more of a professional, all these different things. And that is not the thing like that’s not what’s gonna convince people to work with you anyway. I’m sorry. The true credibility piece? Yes. Like the brand identity and having this wonderful.
I mean the material magnetism that I’ve mentioned before, I think that’s probably gonna be the next episode too, where I talk about the different kinds of magnetism. But when we’re talking about that external manifestation of your inner magnetism, that is great. But if we are talking about true thought leadership, about you being someone who is known for your unique, Perspective for the value you have to share for the lives that you are changing.
That doesn’t come from rushing, launching a website and doing a photo shoot. It comes from knowing your message. I. Potentially knowing your movement, the [00:31:00] movement that you are here to start or to create. It’s about being able to boldly just share what it is that you believe in and show not just tell people that you actually know what you are talking about.
That. And the fact that you are being authentic, you’re being in integrity, you’re doing things your own way. All of these things together is going to build the know trust that, and time I. Time people. It takes time. You can’t shortcut this process. ’cause like I said you can jump straight to trying to outsource.
I’ve had clients come to me who have wasted a good $30,000 on a website that never saw the light of day because they tried to rush it. I’ve had other people say that they did this whole rebrand that they were in a hurry to do, spend all this money to get this beautiful brand identity and. Yeah, like it was lovely.
It was what they asked for, [00:32:00] but they realized it wasn’t the full picture. They hadn’t developed their ideas enough, their aesthetic enough. They weren’t clear enough on who they wanted to be and how they wanted to show up, and so they ended up going and changing it even though they’d paid someone else to do it.
Okay. So there is something to be said for giving yourself time. To get to a point where you do have a certain amount of clarity on who you are, what you represent, what your message is, and really embodying, taking ownership of that message so that when you’re ready, you know you’re ready to build all of those assets.
And then, like I said, time. The ultimate way to be getting these results is yes, you have all of these three things in place like I’ve been talking about, but you need to be out there for long enough for this thing to really just snowball for those that compound interest to build.
How do [00:33:00] we make sure that we are gonna be at this for long enough? It all begins at the very first step, which is individuality. And making sure that the thing that you’re doing, the way you’re approaching this is sustainable. That it’s you’ve made a plan based on. Reality based on how much time you have available, the resources that you have available, knowing that resources can also be, yes, it’s, it can be money, it can be support it’s also your energy as a resource.
If you have limited energy at this time in your life, then we need to build a plan that allows you to keep with this, even with that limited energy. And so again, this is why this. Paint by numbers. Approach this follow someone else’s plan is. Unlikely to succeed because even if you follow the steps, it’s are you gonna be able to keep following those steps?
Keep implementing until you see those results. And so we [00:34:00] need to make sure that you have the plan that is sustainable and also that we are building out the support systems that you need. That are going to make this even easier for you to do, to not be fully reliant on willpower, pushing, forcing motivation, which we know is fleeting.
And when I say support systems, I mean, I probably mentioned this in last episode too, someone else might say, oh, you need a scheduling software and you need this, and you need this really fancy project management thing, and you need that, but you need your own thing. We’re all different.
Someone who is classed as neurodiverse. With my A D H D I know that platforms and systems that other people swear change their life, and I believe them completely overwhelm me and can have me in an absolute heap. And so I’ve had to really take my time to, to find the ones that work for me. And, but here’s [00:35:00] the kicker.
Often it’s less about finding the system ’cause again, this is outside in approach. This is where someone goes here, use my system. What it usually is about is taking the time to customize that system to work for you, and that is something that takes time and is not really possible unless you’ve done all the other work that we’ve been talking about.
Unless you are absolutely sure what the purpose of this system is for. If you don’t know what. Your output you’re trying to achieve in a week. If you dunno what platforms you’re actually meant to be on and what kind of content you’ve been sharing, then how do you know what that system needs to include?
So when we’re talking about longevity and this inside out approach, yeah. Outside in might just say, Hey, here’s my just plug and play templates and systems and whatnot. Inside out is like taking the time to figure out what do I need and then. Making sure it’s fit for purpose. Okay. That it’s [00:36:00] built to spec and that is where most people drop off.
’cause it gets, it can feel tedious and boring and annoying. And I get it. Like I find it so much easier to set my clients up with systems, build them for them than building it for myself ’cause of the overwhelm. But I’m telling you, it’s. It’s the only way, which is why I’m in a very slow period of rebuilding things for myself, almost from the ground up, but not ’cause I know exactly what I need this time.
But yeah it’s the unsexy work that no one talks about, what is sexy, long term sustainable success on your terms. And that is what’s made possible when you build. A brand and or a business, like really anything from the inside out, starting with you. What do I want? What do I need?
What do I have to offer the world? How can I highlight that in the [00:37:00] simplest, lightest way possible instead of burdening myself with this drama and clutter and stress and all of that, that someone else has handed me just because I don’t necessarily trust myself to get this right and. So we’ll finish this up with just a reminder that there’s no getting it right because as in, there’s no mark for you to hit.
It’s just the only way you can get it right is by just keeping on coming back to yourself and going, how am I doing? Okay? What’s the next step I can take? And. Knowing that some days that step might be, I’m not gonna do anything today. I need to take a nap, or I just need to be off social media.
Then another day it might be, I am motivated as hell. I am going to produce five blog articles today. Great. But as long as it’s coming from within that you’re getting it right. Okay. As long as you’re forcing yourself to show up because of the shoulds, you’re getting it wrong. ’cause it [00:38:00] doesn’t feel good.
That’s it. It’s not wrong because, oh, it’s gonna fail and because it looks like crap or anything like that. No, it’s just wrong because you deserve to do this in a way that feels good. Okay. And I am telling you right now, I’ve worked with enough clients at this point who have come to me with, oh my goodness, the most varying backgrounds, skill sets, knowledge bases, and yet they all had what they needed to start showing up and taking the next steps that we’re gonna get them from point A to point B.
It was just they had to start trusting themselves and tune out to what the world was saying and trust that there was a way that was going to feel good for them if they were prepared to do some experimentation and to figure out what that was. But I’m here to tell you have what you need.
You have a way of communicating right now that is effective. It’s just, [00:39:00] you might not have figured it out yet. Okay? You have a message to share. You just might not have found it or refined it yet. You have a, an engaging story that you might not know how to share in an engaging way yet. Okay? It’s all in you.
That’s all I wanna say. So I hope this helped in some way and shed some light on this approach. And if you want to know more, I mean obviously we’re gonna keep diving into the different parts of the magnetic brand blueprint in coming weeks. But if you’re like, oh, okay, this not, I needed to hear this, then here are two things that we could potentially do.
So my course unmistakable that is out now. It is. The starting point, like this is the foundation for piece one. Like I was talking about, individuality, and that is where we build out what I’ve been talking about, which is that internal compass, figuring out where you’re [00:40:00] going, what you’re wanting to do, your wants, your needs, all of that.
It’s then gonna dive into, I mean, we are going to dive into, I’ll be guiding you through it. Your unique brilliance where all your magnetism lies so that you are, you’re starting to shape the plan around that. Then we get to the plan building, and then we take it further into some of the topics we haven’t even touched on yet in the podcast, which is about looking at which of the five phases of this process you’re in right now and making sure that the work that you’re doing.
Makes sense for that phase because there, there is a time and place to be doing certain activities and to be worrying about certain things. And often, like the biggest issues are caused when we try to skip a phase or two and do things that before we’re ready to do them. Hence what I was talking about oh I need the website now.
I need the rebrand, now I need a photo shoot. But, It might not be the time for that, and so I’ll be guiding you through what it is the right time for. So you’re laying the foundations piece at a time. [00:41:00] So unmistakable is how you can start if you’re wanting to go a self-paced route. Otherwise, we can work together one-on-one.
And so my Magnetic 180 coaching package is my go-to for this because it’s a six month container where we’ll actually walk through. Walk, work and walk through all four pillars together, meaning there is the time for us to go through laying those foundations for your strategy. Then diving into identity and expression, then diving into your message refinement and potentially a more formal brand.
And building out the support systems and playing the long game. Like we, we can cover the lot. So that’s why it’s my go-to, but it’s not the only coaching package that I offer. I do have different sizes and shapes based on what you need. So the thing to do would be head to the website, include a link but you’ll just see it under personal brand [00:42:00] coaching on my website.
And if. You are liking the sound of it and you, there’s enough that for you to go yeah, this is interesting. Then fill out an application. We’ll book a call and we can figure out together whether that’s the right. Container for you or if something else would be, but either way, I just want you building your brand from the inside out, okay?
Even if it’s not me to help you, I am, I’m hoping that today gave you some food for thought and some inspiration on what you could tweak next. So thank you so much for listening, and I look forward to speaking to you on the next one. Bye for now.
